The Benefits of Taking a Scaled Agile Course Online

Career Benefits

We'd love to help you take your career to the next level, no matter where you're at in your professional walk.

Taking a training or framework course and passing certification exams will not only make a difference in the success of your business, but it could also add some bulk to your wallet. In fact, experts say certified professionals earn about 20% more than professionals that lack the same certification.

The SAFe methodology has been tried and true, and since it has generally been used on larger-scale, intricate projects, thorough knowledge of its properties is necessary within the global market.

Becoming a certified SAFe 5 Scrum Master or SAFe Lean Portfolio Manager will set you apart from the crowd of people claiming to be SAFe professionals. The only way to gauge one's abilities is through certifications.

Agile Center's wide variety of course options ensure that no matter which certification you're still lacking, you can find the tools needed to prepare.

Our consultants and trainers have worked alongside some of the biggest industries across the globe, including Euro Bank, United Nations/WHO, IT advisor, and Sitech. By becoming certified you also become a part of the legacy that these companies have left, and begin the journey towards your own legacy.

Exam Benefits

As we know, many of the certification exams consist of 90 questions to be taken in a little over half an hour - a feat which in and of itself is difficult enough. It is highly recommended to have at least five years of active experience in a relative field of software programming.

These high standards matched with the price of the exam itself help to field out those who truly belong within SAFe architectural fields.

Luckily, the registration fee of courses taken at Agile Center includes the cost of the exam for which you are being prepared for!

Our courses not only prepare you for every exam but enable you to deliver exceptional value through Agile practices. Among the topics you could cover are:

  • How to lead a Lean-Agile transformation at enterprise scale (Leading SAFe Live Online)
  • In-depth understanding of the Agile Release Train (SAFe Product Owner/Product Manager Live Online)
  • How to successfully plan and execute the Program Increment (SAFe Scrum Master Live Online)
  • How to establish Value Stream Budgets and Lean Budget Guardrails (Lean Portfolio Management Live Online)

Are Scaled Agile Framework Courses Worth It?

The first thing to know before deciding if the course will be worth it for you is to understand what it includes and the types of lessons it teaches. The basic principles of the Scaled Agile Framework include:

  • Individuals and actions over processes and tools
  • Working software over comprehensive documentation
  • Customer collaboration over contract negotiations
  • Responding to change over following a plan

  • Delivering products and services with higher frequency
  • Collaboration between stakeholders and delivery teams
  • Increased face-to-face meetings
  • Focus on working products
  • Sustainable development at a constant pace
  • Attention to technical details
  • Simplicity

Focusing on these and other key aspects of the framework leads to several benefits. It improves productivity and employee satisfaction, leads to higher salaries and marketability, and includes a range of licensed in-person and online options.

  • 20-50% greater productivity

Knowing the problems you may face helps you see how Scaled Agile Framework courses help solve them. Communication issues are the top complaints workers lodge against their leaders. 91% of workers say they drag organizations down.

The Scaled Agile Framework helps reduce these issues. It allows all departments to follow the same processes and work together with clearer guidelines.

This benefit helps entire organizations and individual employees. It reduces employee turnover and makes the experience better for each individual worker.

3 Major Themes of Scaled Agile Framework Courses for Architects

Scaled Agile Framework Courses for Architects

3 Major Themes of SAFe Architecture Courses

As you begin to analyze SAFe architecture courses, learn which themes you should expect to prepare for and ensure you reach your goals with pride!

You've heard your colleagues talking about SAFe certification. Are you missing out? The Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) is the most popular scaled framework among organizations.

A SAFe architecture certification increases your career opportunities. It improves your professional brand and makes you worth more to your organization. Find out what a SAFe architect certification can do for you and how to find the right course.

Importance of SAFe Architecture

Architecture is an important component of Agile practices. Organizations have started to apply Agile practices beyond their origins in software development. Agile practices are becoming a way to manage traditional business functions.

Architecture provides the guiding framework for scaling Agile practices.

What Is Agile Architecture?

Agile architecture supports the active, evolving design of a system. It uses a set of defined values and practices. It allows the architecture of the system to evolve. However, it doesn't ignore the needs of current users.

Agile architecture supports development through collaboration, emergent design, intentional architecture, and simplicity. It facilitates designing for testability, deploy-ability, and release-ability.

Agile architects help the business continuously deliver value. They increase business efficiency. They support the Continuous Delivery Pipeline.

SAFe Architects

Agile architects draw on several of SAFe's Lean-Agile Principles for lean product management. They use fast learning cycles to explore alternatives and find the best solution. They also promote decentralized decision making. Agile architects define and communicate the architectural strategic vision. They then collaborate with the teams who execute it.

Benefits of a Scaled Agile Framework Course for Architects

A SAFe certification architecture course will help you become a more effective leader. You'll become a better agent for change within the organization. You'll be better positioned to help create value for the business.

You'll gain insight into your role within a Lean-Agile enterprise. The course is beneficial for system, solution, or enterprise architects.

The course will help you collaborate more effectively across the organization. You'll be better able to align architecture with business value. You'll develop and communicate vision and intent more effectively. You'll learn to coach other architects and team members.

SAFe certification for architects focuses on three main themes:

  • Balancing intentionality and emergence
  • Aligning architecture with the business strategy
  • Finding your role in PI planning and execution

Within these themes, you'll develop a variety of competency areas.

1. Balancing Intentionality and Emergence

A balance between structure and flexibility is key for SAFe architecture. SAFe identifies these qualities as intentional architecture and emergent design.

Intentional Architecture

Intentional architecture is like what many architects would identify as traditional architecture. It defines and plans a set of architectural strategies and initiatives. These initiatives support and add to solution design, performance, and usability. They guide teams in coordinating design and implementation.

Intentional architecture recognizes that people and systems operate within constraints. Budgets, regulations, technical considerations, or customer issues can drive these constraints.

Traditional architecture often resulted in extensive documentation and a lack of validated decisions. Combining intentional architecture with emergent design responds better to business needs.

Emergent Design

Emergent design creates the technical foundation for an incremental approach to implementation. This approach can evolve as demands change. Developers and designers can react quickly to customers' and other stakeholders' needs.

This responsiveness lets the design evolve as the system grows. It helps ensure that initiatives deliver consistent value for users.

For a SAFe practitioner, architecture is collaborative and interactive. The design element emerges organically within the structure of intentionality. Incorporating constraints into the initiative increases the likelihood that the initiative will succeed. It's more likely to deliver ongoing value.

2. Aligning Architecture with Business Strategy

Technology is a critical component of most businesses' competitive strategy. Technology helps a business deliver consistent value to its customers.

However, business strategies are continuously evolving to respond to market conditions. The technology, systems, and applications supporting those strategies need to evolve with them. Architects collaborate with business owners and product managers to help this evolution.

SAFe architects ensure that systems will be able to meet business goals now and in the future.

Achieving Business Goals

A business reaches its goals faster when architecture aligns with the business strategy. Agile architects move the strategy from strategic themes to solutions. These solutions depend on vision, context, and intent.

The vision describes the future state of the solution. It describes the features and capabilities that will meet customer and stakeholder needs. The vision is realistic but also motivational.

The solution context takes into account the environment where the solution will operate. The solution context can put restrictions on choices about design and implementation. Solution contexts can include environments like a system of systems or IT deployment.

The solution intent comes out of the solution context. The solution intent is the repository of knowledge for what the solution does and is intended to do. It serves as documentation.

3. Role of Architecture in PI Planning and Execution

SAFe architects play an important role in Program Increment (PI) planning and execution. Architects support the teams that plan for the next increment. They collaborate with business owners to assign value to the teams' PI objectives.

Architects then guide the teams' progress in PI implementation. They track progress and help solve issues that come up. They correct the direction when necessary. Architects help find solutions to problems as quickly as possible. This prevents architecture from becoming a bottleneck.

Navigating SAFe Certifications: Which Are Right For You?

Navigating SAFe Certifications: Which Are Right For You?

Navigating Safe Certifications: Which Are Right For You?

With many options available to pursue, selecting the most relevant SAFe certifications for you requires research and planning for your career ahead.

Fifteen years ago, Agile became the hot new approach in software development. What started as a reaction to traditional approaches to projects has become the norm these days in departments across companies.

Today, two-thirds of companies describe their development style as pure Agile or leaning towards Agile. Using Agile as a platform to advance your career makes a lot of sense, given its popularity. And SAFe certifications can help you climb the ladder.

Agile’s appeal beyond software development comes from its focus on customers and team collaboration. You can find the principles at work in management and human resources teams, as well as project management outside of software.

Certification shows a commitment to a career using Agile and validates your skills. Your choice can open new doors in your current role or prepare you to shift into leadership.

More than 700,000 people have been trained in the SAFe approach to date, so you are in good company if this is the route you choose.

Choosing SAFe Certifications

Starting your journey with Scaled Agile Framework for Enterprise (SAFe) makes a lot of sense. SAFe is the leading framework in use today, with nearly 35 percent of companies deploying it, a 5 percent increase over the year before.

Thanks to that, a SAFe certificate is going to make you a better match for more job openings and is globally recognized.

The SAFe process focuses on the skills, experience, and knowledge required to perform specific roles in a SAFe working environment. You must complete a relevant course before you can sit for the exam, and many learning resources beyond the class are provided to help you pass the test.

Which SAFe certification is best for you depends on a variety of factors. These tests are based on job role, so you need to decide if you’re going for one to solidify your grasp on your current role or if you want to use the designation to allow a shift to a new one.

Here’s a rundown of some of your options for SAFe certification and the required training classes.

SAFe Certification Options

The role-based training of the SAFe program gives a natural progression from entry-level SAFe practitioner to SAFe expert. Some of the tests require experience working in Agile already, while others are suitable for true beginners.

These certifications don’t build on each other, although the list here covers beginner and intermediate ones. Consider which might advance you in your current role or would allow you to make a shift to a different role in management. Specific courses are required before you can take the certification exam.

SAFe DevOps Practitioner

Required course: SAFe DevOps

While Agile has moved beyond software development, this particular level is targeted to those in that field. These people are the ones responsible for improving the flow of value from idea to solution.

The class is appropriate for anyone interested in Agile in development environments, but prior experience is of benefit. You’ll learn how to execute an implementation plan for delivery and how to support the plan. By the end, you’ll be able to take the SDP certification exam.

SAFe Agilist

Required course - Leading SAFe

This is another basic-level course and great for anyone who wants to work in an Agile organization. If your company is looking to transition to Agile, this designation is a good starting point to help you develop the skill set needed. An SA guides the adoption and ongoing improvement of the Agile culture by defining the mission.

If you plan to sit for the exam, they recommend at least five years in software development, testing, business analysis, product management, or product management. Experience with Scrum is also helpful.

SAFe Scrum Master

Required course: SAFe Scrum Master

Scrum masters lead teams and are responsible for helping them self-organize, manage, and deliver value. They coordinate with other teams in the Agile process.

This course goes beyond traditional training to explore the role of the SC in the context of your entire company. You learn to plan and execute the key components of Agile at scale and how Scrum is used throughout the organization.

While anyone is welcome to this course, it is highly recommended that you already have a working knowledge of Agile, Scrum, and software development if you are planning to sit for the certification exam.

SAFe Agile Product Manager

Required course: Agile Product Management

The role of product manager is to define strategies and roadmaps to find new markets and speed up the product lifecycle to get fast feedback. Training for this position includes how to develop innovative solutions and delight customers in a way that aligns with your company’s strategy and intent.

The class for this certification is open to anyone, but it is recommended to have attended at least one other SAFe course. The course is also targeted to those with a background in product or solution management.

SAFe Product Owner/Product Manager

Required course: Product Owner/Product Manager

This particular class and certification are about leading the Agile charge within your company. People with this training would be working with enterprise backlog management, delivering product features, and stakeholder management.

The course is meant for those already working in Agile and lean product management. It is recommended that you have already taken the Leading SAFe course or have that certification.

SAFe Architect

Required course: SAFe for Architects

We’re back to the world of software with this certification, which is for system, solution, and enterprise architects. The class teaches you how to work as effective leaders and change agents in your company. It is also a good option for anyone wanting a deeper understanding of how architecture fits into an Agile enterprise.

Attendees should already be familiar with Agile principles and have attended at least one other SAFe course before this one.
